Digital Solutions for Optimal Document Management

Digital Solutions for Optimal Document Management By Greg Griffith, Senior Product Manager, KYOCERA Document Solutions South Africa With the exponential growth in content and data, businesses are facing more challenges when it comes to storing documentation. Although most organisations have moved to digital, many still store original and hard copies of their data, which is both costly and inefficient, not to mention that stricter data protection regulations are making compliance a growing concern for organisations.   Fortunately, the market has reacted with digital solutions for document management such as  Content Services , which encompasses a range of content management features to digitise documents, thus allowing businesses to centralise data and automate workflows.    Since it enables organisations to manage information from creation to disposal, Content Services has numerous advantages. The 3 top benefits include lower costs, enhanced security, and increased e...

Kyocera's cartridge recycling project grows resources for community vegetable garden

Image
Engineering and mining contractor Murray & Roberts is leading the charge as a responsible recycler, in response to a call  made by Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa  (KDZA) and Carbon Footprint Recycling, to reduce e-waste by recycling empty toner cartridges and waste toner bottles.   The project encourages companies to send a participation request to Kyocera and agree to an administration fee. In return, they receive a recycling bin and a plastic liner to collect all makes of used printer cartridges. Once the bin is full, the organisation requests collection and the liner is swapped for a new one.   In turn, Carbon Footprint Recycling turns the cartridges into concrete-based planter boxes and other items, that can be used by the participating organisations, or donated to community projects. Importantly, the toners and plastic toner cartridges are safely diverted from landfill.    To date, Carbon Footprint Recycling has collected 3647 Kyocera cart...

Developing answers to tomorrow’s document management security challenges

Image
As technology becomes more complex, so do the problems businesses face. Kyocera is developing answers to the challenges of the future and aims to provide customers with a minimised security risk office environment. It has been widely documented that COVID-19 has significantly accelerated the pace of digital transformation. Even the most resistant companies have had to adopt ‘ working from  home ’, cloud or  hybrid work models  as they adapt to life under a pandemic. And, now that employees have had the opportunity to experience the benefits of remote working, it’s a trend that’s likely to remain and grow well beyond the pandemic.   While there are many social, and even economic advantages to remote working, the rapid pace at which most companies had to adapt to this new model has created complexity around the administration and security of devices, both on and off site, and left many businesses exposed to cybersecurity threats – in fact, auditing firm Deloitte...

What lies ahead for the future of print?

Image
What role will printing play in the post COVID-19 world?   The explosion of digital media has had a major impact on how business is done and how consumers are engaged. It’s perhaps not surprising then, that many might believe the future of printing is not that bright. However, they are mistaken.   Although the use of print declined over the last two decades, the industry is embracing a new range of modern applications and is set to take advantage of the oversaturation and privacy issues digital platforms are experiencing. Beyond newspapers, magazines and books, print is embracing new waves of innovation.   “No matter where you go, printed matter is visible everywhere,” says Greg Griffith, Hardware Product Manager at Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa. “From labels to booklets to packaging and much more, print remains in demand. The packaging on every product we buy is printed. The demand for printing is in fact so much greater than most people realise, and tha...

A goal without a plan is a wish

The GM of  Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa  (KDZA) looks to 2021 with cautious optimism If there is one thing 2020 has shown it’s that the late Romantic poet Robert Burns was right, when in the 1700s he wrote, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on our ability to predict the “what’s next” factor in our business environments and this year has seen businesses scramble from Plan A to Plan B, before working their way through the rest of the alphabet.   As executives shift their focus to 2021, they continue to face uncertainty about how the global pandemic and customer preferences will impact their business. There’s enormous pressure to digitise while simultaneously right-sizing their spend.    Yet,  Werner Engelbrecht, General Manager at Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa, remains cautiously optimistic about the industry and believes that,  “As companies adapt to the challenges of work-from-home and ...
