The Evolution of gaming laptops over the years

Evolution is a part of life, and as such, brands have had to undergo some major changes to ensure they remain relevant to their respective markets. Gaming is one such industry that’s changed and adapted drastically over the years and has crossed paths with various platforms.

We’re, therefore, looking at the world of PC gaming and how Acer has taken the great leap from desktop to notebook gaming.

Notebook versus Desktop: What’s the difference?

Everyday laptops have often been more of a novelty than a reliable gaming device. This is because they lack the hardware and overall storage to meet the requirements that a desktop version can effectively meet.

Overheating is one of the biggest problems gaming notebook developers have had to face as the compact design was unable to provide enough space to meet the cooling demands of gaming – even with a bulky design. Desktops, on the other hand, can accommodate a lot more hardware due to their stationary design and as such, were perceived to be a lot more reliable.

Since then, however, Predator has been able to change this perception through its compact, high-performance design. Technology has evolved to the point where bulky designs are no longer necessary to accommodate the hardware needed to meet the needs of gamers.

How has the technology changed?

Laptops and notebooks have been equipped to handle every element that comes with online gaming. The screens have been upgraded to provide a 144-hertz display which means that lagging is no longer an issue. You can play straight off of the monitor without losing the impressive refresh rate that Predator has become renowned for.

Acer and Predator have been leading the pack with their updated specifications on all their gaming notebooks. This is evident in the Nitro 500, Triton 500 and Helios 500 devices – to name but a few. Their range of notebooks is compact and lightweight, making them the ultimate travelling companion for gamers competing both locally and internationally.

The hardware in these compact devices has been found to surpass that of their desktop counterparts in most cases. The GTX graphics card has been replaced with the RTX graphics card, and the internal processor has been upgraded to the Intel i9 processor. The internal cooling system has also been redesigned to meet the strain that comes with gaming – ensuring its performance while maintaining a sleek, compact design, enclosed in an aluminium casing.

Does the design meet all the requirements needed for a gamer?

The aluminium chassis, once again, emphasises the mobility needed by a professional or amateur gamer to take their game where ever they may be.

One of the benefits of a desktop is, of course, the impressive-looking set up that you can build up while playing. Acer and Predator have been looking into ways for their devices to match the impressiveness that the desktop versions have to offer. A big screen with all the latest gadgets is a plus and creates a more professional looking experience.

What’s more, with the Helios 700, the keyboard can extend outwards, which allows for greater cooling capacity, in addition, to a more comfortable gaming experience. The Predator range also boasts backlight keyboards to add a pop of colour to your set up.

You can also choose your notebook based on your needs. The monitor size varies within the range and will not be as lightweight as the smaller notebooks available in the Helios and Triton ranges.

The technological innovation that has taken over in the last few months has given gamers the ability to choose a high-performance gaming notebook that can handle all the strain placed on it during hours of use.

Predator is ahead of the curve, giving competitors a run for their money in terms of the features on offer. This forward-thinking will ensure gamers stay ahead of the curb and focus on the thing that matters most – the game.
