Vox and 3CX Adopts Virtual Data Centre Infrastructure from Nymbis Cloud Technologies

Vox, a leading telecoms company, required a cost-effective, agile, and scalable virtual datacentre solution for its 3CX business telephony product offering. This virtual datacentre needed to be capable of providing exceptional redundancy and fail-over within an environment that can adapt to changing customer and market expectations.

“We have our own datacentres, however, we required a solution that would allow us to spin up virtual machines according to spec at speed and sit within a virtual datacentre that has the ability to host all these virtual machines and provide backups on demand while reducing cost to company and improving overall efficiencies,” says Natalie van der Merwe, Head of Telephony at Vox. “Cost was an important consideration, as was scalability, reliability and redundancy. We also needed a solution that was simple to use, integrate and implement.”

It was the unique business model and approach provided by Nymbis that led to Vox opting into their platform and virtual datacentre solution. In addition to fitting within Vox’s expectations to provide a cost effective end-to-end 3CX solution to customers, the company offered virtual machines that were easy to spin up and run within an environment that prioritised security and speed of service delivery. As Natalie emphasises, “We can’t wait to spin up a virtual machine when a customer installation is taking place, so this cannot be a lengthy or complicated process. When we need a virtual machine, we need it today. And this was what Nymbis provided.”

Vox launched 3CX in July 2021 and, over the past two years, has connected more than 1,000 customers. This rapid growth requires an incredibly flexible computer architecture capable of handling the complex loads and high demands of its customers. Nymbis provided this end-to-end scalability and scale plus incredibly robust security. This too, was a dealbreaker for the company.

“Security is non-negotiable for us,” says Natalie. “It defines the assurances we provide our customers and the high expectations we set for ourselves. Nymbis shares this commitment which ensures that security has been baked into every part of this solution.”

Throughout the implementation, Nymbis worked closely with Vox to ensure the deployment was as smooth as possible and conformed to 3CX requirements, ensuring infrastructure, connectivity, capabilities and provisioning were perfectly aligned and integrated. This value has been felt throughout the business as it has enjoyed reduced downtime, improved scalability and, importantly, data visibility.

“We could have hosted with other service providers but we were also very determined to ensure our data didn’t cross borders,” says Natalie. “It is important that the data stays here so we can provide our customers with quality service and the guarantee of data sovereignty. It was critical for us to partner with a local company as this really does ensure that our customers get the right quality when it comes to service and support.”

“The solution provided by Nymbis ensures we can provide our customers with exceptional service, security and data visibility within a virtual environment built to be resilient and agile. It has transformed our speed of service delivery and provided us with the security, reliability and fail-over capabilities we need.”  – Natalie van der Merwe, Head of Telephony at Vox
